Neck Lifts New Orleans
We don’t all age the same way. For some of us, our sagging neck makes us look older and heavier than we are. Neck lifts can tighten loose neck muscles, removing excess fat and lift the skin of your neck. Often, those of us with poor neck muscles can see the same problem in one or both of our parents.

What happens during a neck lift consultation?
During your private consultation with Dr. Moses, you’ll have the opportunity to explain your concerns, discuss your goals, and explore your options for getting the results you want. Dr. Moses will examine your neck and make expert recommendations for the optimal treatment plan.
Neck lifts are often combined with other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or chin augmentation. Together, the two of you will decide which procedures you want and what works for your priorities.
What is neck lift surgery like?
Neck lifts are performed under general anesthesia, usually as an outpatient procedure in our private surgical suite. During your procedure, Dr. Moses will begin by making small incisions behind each ear where they will be naturally hidden. Through these incisions, he will begin lifting and tightening the fascia at the edges of the platysma muscles (the platysma muscles makes the vertical “turkey gobbler bands” in the neck). This creates an improved support system that suspends the platysma muscles for a long-lasting lift and natural shape. Dr. Moses will perform liposuction of the excess fat in the upper neck at the same time and through the same incisions. If your platysma muscles are severely lax, Dr. Moses may directly tighten the medial portion of the muscles through a small incision under the chin. Surgery takes one to two hours.
How long is neck lift recovery?
Patients are typically able to return to non-strenuous work and day-to-day activities in about two weeks, though this will depend on your personal comfort level and the level of skin tightening needed to achieve the best results.
After your neck lift, you’ll spend some time in a private recovery room as you wake up from anesthesia. You will be able to return home that day, though you’ll need a designated driver and someone to help you around that first evening.
You will be sent home with bandaging strategically placed to reduce swelling and protect your incisions, as well as an elastic head support that you will need to wear around the clock for two days and then intermittently for a week. You may also have a thin drain placed to collect any excess fluid that may collect under the skin, helping to reduce swelling and ensure optimal healing. The drain is typically removed within a day or two.
It’s normal to experience bruising for anywhere from a few days to two weeks. We will send you home with oral medication to manage any discomfort, those most of our patients switch to OTC pain relievers within a few days. Dr. Moses will go over specific aftercare instructions with you, which may include guidelines for sleeping comfortable, proper head elevation, etc.
What kind of neck lift results can I expect?
Sagging neck skin should no longer embarrass you, give your age away, or make you look heavy. After your neck has been rejuvenated, you will feel and look trim and youthful. You won’t have to worry about trying to conceal extra neck skin with scarves or turtlenecks. For many years, the results of your neck lift will keep you looking fitter and younger than if you had never undergone the surgery.
