Breast Lift (Mastopexy) New Orleans
Mastopexy is one of Dr. Moses’ favorite procedures. Some lucky women have skin with good elasticity and despite pregnancies, weight fluctuations, and years of gravity, their breasts remain firm and youthful. For other women, gravity, genetics, breastfeeding, and aging can cause their breasts to sag, lose volume, and look empty. A breast lift does not make breasts bigger, but it tightens the skin to change the shape of the breasts, making them look less droopy and more rounded.

What happens during a breast lift consultation with Dr. Moses?
Dr. Moses does several kinds of breast lifts. Discuss with him how you want your breasts to look, and he will explain the options to you. All breast lifts involve some degree of scarring, but typical breast lift scars fade so well they are hard to find. Dr. Moses will try to give you an idea of what to expect in terms of scarring. You can decide whether droopy, sagging breasts without scars are better than shapely, rounded, and lifted breasts but with scars.
Many patients combine their breast lift with a breast augmentation, and Dr. Moses will help you figure out which option is best for you. Breast augmentation can provide extra volume for the breasts, but does not tighten the skin; a breast lift tightens the skin, but doesn’t change the volume. Many patients need or want both. Combined breast augmentation and mastopexy can easily be done at the same time, under the same anesthetic.
What is breast lift surgery like?
Mastopexies are done under general anesthesia as an outpatient. A mastopexy takes about two hours. Mastopexy is a surprisingly non-painful procedure. The stitches are all buried beneath the skin. The only dressing is surgical glue which stays on for 2 to 4 weeks. Patients wake up in a special surgical bra and go home the same day.
How long is breast lift recovery?
Most patients can resume non-physical work within two to three days, physical work within a week, and exercise in two to three weeks. Scars look better rapidly over the first few weeks and gradually improve for up to six months.
What breast lift results can I expect?
After a mastopexy, patients will have lifted, more shapely breasts. Clothing will fit differently, meaning that our patients may choose to wear styles and fabrics that they had always avoided due to lack of confidence. With just a lift, your breasts won’t be smaller or larger, just less droopy.
