Arm Lift New Orleans
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is used to remove that loose, hanging skin beneath the arm, from the armpit to the elbow, especially in patients who have lost lots of weight. Exercise can tone the muscles and burn the fat, but nothing else can tighten the skin. In patients with loose skin in the arms, brachioplasty can save them from always needing to wear long sleeves to hide their upper arms. With our hot summers in New Orleans, brachioplasty can be a godsend.
You will discuss your goals with Dr. Moses. Together, the two of you will decide the best approach to achieve your desired results. After you set a date for surgery, you will be given instructions about how to prepare.
What is arm lift surgery like?
Brachioplasties are done as an outpatient under general anesthesia. The procedure takes about two hours. Patients go home afterward. The incision is on the underside of the arm from the armpit to the elbow. Patients have closed suction drains for a day or two after the surgery.
A brachioplasty leaves a significant scar on the arm, but patients almost always prefer the scar to the excess skin. Scars improve and fade, and they are hidden when your arm is down by your side. Most patients would rather have the scar and finally be able to wear sleeveless dresses, tank tops, and short sleeves.
What arm lift results can I expect?
After your arm lift, you won’t have to be shy of waving to a friend or lifting your arms above your head in front of others. Your arms will be more toned and proportional to the rest of your body. Clothes will fit better, you can dance with a partner, and clap at a performance with ease and confidence.
