Neck Lifts (Platysmaplasty)

We don’t all age the same way. For some of us, our sagging neck makes us look older and heavier than we are. Neck lifts can tighten loose neck muscles, removing excess fat and tightening the skin of your neck. Often, those of us with poor neck muscles can see the same problem in one of our parents.

Your Individual Goals

During your private consultation, discuss your goals with Dr. Moses. Neck lifts are often combined with other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or chin augmentation. Together, the two of you will decide which procedures you want and what works for your priorities.

About Neck Lifts

Neck lifts are performed under general anesthesia, usually as outpatient procedures. A neck lift, known as a Platysmaplasty, is a procedure to tighten your neck muscles(the platysma muscles makes the vertical “turkey gobbler bands” in the neck. It typically takes 1 to 1½ hours. Dr. Moses may also perform liposuction to remove any excess fat from the upper neck.

Recovery from Neck Lift Surgery

You will be bruised anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. The suction drain is removed the next day. We keep you in an elastic head support around the clock for two days and then for a week just when you are at home.

Neck Lift Results

Sagging neck skin should no longer embarrass you, give your age away, or make you look heavy. After your neck has been rejuvenated, you will feel and look trim and youthful. You won’t have to worry about trying to conceal extra neck skin with scarves or turtlenecks. Over time, the results of your neck lift will keep you looking fitter and younger than if you had never undergone the surgery.
